FAMILY ON WHEELS

By: Edmund B. Pagharion

Collecting pictures is one of my favorite hobbies. I usually bring a camera with me, whenever I go for a simple walk to familiarize myself with a new place. But there was a time when I forgot to put the camera in my bag with me. I miss the chance to take winning pictures of different stories of the lives of people living in the streets in Metro Manila. Now I’m trying to recall that experience by my making a simple drawing.
One of those, is the family living in a movable house - the wooden cart (kariton). It happened at high noon when, I noticed that the wooden cart, were being pushed by a dark and skinny man. It was loaded with junk to be sold at the shop. As I approached near the cart, I heard a girl’s joyful laughter playing with her worn-out doll inside the cart, while her parents smiled with her. Inside the cart, were the mother and two children, ages two and six. That cart served as their house. The father of that family was the only one pushing the cart ov…

LOVE HURTS

Why he/she? Why we love that person? Maybe we have found something different. But what he/she makes different? We need a friend, that’s why our lives should assemble with – friends added, enemies subtracted, joy multiplied and sorrows divided. May the equation is with you. When life seems tough… carry on. If things go wrong, move on. Bear in mind that we all need to build stepping stones out of stumbling blocks.
We may find life too complex for us to bear. Too hard for our futile mind to fathom, yet, looking through heaven’s eyes, we see the simplicity of it all, the faith of the child’s heart. And many of us wonder how life could be meaningful; bear in mind for life to be meaningful, add a little sacrifice, subtract an…

A true love can bear the longitude of waiting even if it takes forever. When confused about love, follow your heart. It may not always be right, but you will have the memories to make you smile. If your head tells you one thing and your heart tells you another thing, before you decide, you should first think, whether you have a better head or heart. It’s okay to kiss a fool or let a fool kiss you, but never let the kiss fool you. Don’t find love, let it find you, that is why it is called falling in love, because you never force your heart to fall.  Never be ashamed to show love when you feel it, someday, you might realized that love is already afraid to show itself to you. Girls are like angels, they can easily forgive and forget.…

The Law and Our Responsibility to the Environment

“Law is the highest reason implanted in Nature, which commands what ought to be done and forbids the opposite.”-  Marcos Tullius Cicero

“Law is the highest reason implanted in Nature, which commands what ought to be done and forbids the opposite.”- Marcos Tullius Cicero The words of former Justice Reynato S. Puno, in his message at the Judges’ Forum on Environmental Protection: Philippine Environmental Law, Practice, and the Role of Courts, viz: “Nothing less than the survival of the human species hangs on this delicate balance. Section 4, Article XII of 1987 Constitution, thus, enjoins the State to protect our endangered forest and watershed areas, while Section 7, Article XIII calls upon the State to protect, develop, and conserve communal marine and fishing resources. In pushing the frontiers of industrialization, the State is cautioned to make “full and efficient use of human and natural resources” (Section 1, Article XII). “Several principles in the Declaration undoubtedly are th…

WHAT IT FEELS LIKE IN LAW SCHOOL?
“Do not enter law school if you do not want to become a lawyer.” The words of my friends that remind me of my desire of getting into law study. I came to fully understand that words when I became a law student. This thing is not for a fainthearted dreamer. I found that a day in life as a law student was hard to tell for it was not been as easy as I seem. It is a big twist to cut away my self from the customary things that I am used to do with. There are times, when thoughts are drifting to questions on why am I doing this? How to do it? When will this get over? Getting drowned to these never ending questions will only leave me dawdling. However, that idea of quitting is only the product of irresponsible mind. So how’s my freshman life in first semester? Lot of things happened during those eye-bugging nights of schoolwork, but then, funny moments are still popping out along the days of horrific experience:
FIRST MONTH – Reading 101 as the vary foundation…
